Every session with my Wedu mentor consists of learning and unlearning. I am an empowered woman, but there are times when I get in my own way because of things I have been conditioned to believe precisely because I am a woman in this society. This much my mentor has taught me. Throughout the past year, with the help of my Wedu Mentor, I invested in myself by taking care of my well-being as I take care of others—and I am now a lot closer to achieving my goals than ever before.”

Wedu has helped me enormously in my leadership journey by allowing me to network with other Wedu members all over the world, particularly in my leadership journey as a rising star we have access to a mentorship curriculum with the guidance of my mentors who have helped me identify my goals and supported me in both my professional and personal life. Even though we come from different places and have different backgrounds, my mentor and I are here together to support and inspire each other to be the greatest versions of ourselves and to encourage each other to believe in ourselves. Thank you to Wedu for creating such a wonderful program where all women can come together and support one another in order to make the world a better place for all.

My mentor has inspired and guided me to become the best version of myself with a balance of everything. She always guides me when I feel very low and tells me it is okay to be low because life is all about highs and lows so it is okay to feel those feelings and embrace them. Belonging to an indigenous community and minority in my country I always faced the issues of finding myself among others surrounding me, with the help of a mentor I am learning to be who I am and a proud woman to what I do. I aspire to be such a person where I can contribute back to my indigenous roots what I received all through these years and my mentors inspire me to do that accordingly.

I enjoyed my mentorship journey with Ly Chhay tremendously. In fact, she’s like a big sister, sharing her experiences and stories with me. I felt comfortable sharing with her the leadership challenges I face. She’ll listen with empathy and give me advice on what I can do, including words of advice that her mentor has given her before! This has given me courage to become a better leader.

The best part about my mentorship experience was how my mentor was able to support me both personally and professionally. My mentor’s guidance and encouragement helped me in making decisions regarding my career, something I’m extremely grateful for. He was also very helpful in sharpening my personal vision and goals. It was truly an absolute delight!

As I embarked into my journey in public health and was beginning a new role, the conversations I had with my Mentor were monumental in helping me shape my career aspirations and work towards my goals. I always look forward to our fortnightly meetings, where I was able to learn from my Mentor’s wealth of experiences in public health and gain insights in understanding various issues. More than that, I benefited greatly from her presence as a listening ear and sounding board in navigating my own personal and professional journey. During the COVID-19 pandemic, my mentor listened to me, slowed me down, and told me to reflect on myself. She leads me to the questions that rescue me again and again. My eight months of mentorship program was superb and made me bring my best self to work in both personal and professional life as a field leader during COVID-19. When I doubted myself, I would contact my mentor who would listen deeply to my thoughts. Mentorship should be there for all women with their specific challenges in life.
