Global Mentorship Programmes

Wedu’s Global Mentorship Programme (GMP) is an 8-month long one-on-one mentoring programme tailored to the unique needs and aspirations of South and Southeast Asian Women. Through our bespoke matching algorithm, mentees are paired with mentors from across the globe and across sectors. GMP is open to any South or Southeast woman with leadership aspirations.

The GMP is currently on pause.

Women as Humanitarian Leaders within the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies

The mentorship programme for women humanitarian leaders within the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Asia Pacific region was piloted to foster mentees’ personal and professional growth through guidance from experienced mentors committed to advancing women into leadership roles.

The IFRC team led the recruitment and selection process, with mentors and mentees chosen based on their interests and commitment. Wedu used its matching algorithm to match mentors and mentees. Alongside one-on-one mentorship, Wedu co-created workshops to supplement the learning journey of the mentees and hold space for peer engagement.

International Rescue Committee’s Programme for Refugees along the Thai-Myanmar border

Over the past seven years, Wedu has provided online one-on-one mentorship to more than 150 refugees in camps along the Thai-Myanmar border. Wedu initiated its partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in October 2017 to deliver a structured mentorship programme for 30 girls and refugees from Myanmar.

This collaboration has been successfully renewed annually. The programme builds refugees’ resilience by strengthening their capacities and nurturing supportive networks through peer mentorship circles. Additionally, it enhances agency through goal setting and personalised mentorship, equipping participants with the necessary skills and mindset to transition into life beyond the camps.

Women’s Leadership Academy (WLA)

Since 2016, Wedu has partnered with the U.S. Mission to ASEAN to implement 9 successful YSEALI WLAs and supported over 300 women through mentorship.

For each Academy, Wedu designed leadership and capacity-strengthening sessions, small and large group discussions, mentoring sessions, and hands-on learning experiences.

The WLA has evolved in response to opportunities for impact and guided inputs from participants, leading to the introduction of seed grants, an alumnae network board, Wedu’s signature one-to-one mentorship, and most recently, the introduction of collaborative knowledge products that amplify the voices of Southeast Asian women on a global stage.
