Ashwathy Venugopal, a Rising star at Wedu since 2020, is an entrepreneur who runs Avasarshala, a platform that helps children discover their interests and talents.

During this lockdown, parents are being stretched thin with the additional task of making the idle time productive for kids. Ashwathy’s firm, Avasarshala, has launched WhizKids Challenge 2020 that helps kids to safely utilize their free time by developing their passions and interests through online platforms and engaging them in daily challenges that allow them to think, learn and have fun.

Ashwathy says, “While the world looks eagerly at ways to combat the widespread harm caused by COVID 19, we often forget that it is equally important to maintain a healthy and productive environment at home. During this lockdown, parents are being stretched thin with the additional task of making the idle time productive for kids.”

In April 2020, Avasarshala launched a pilot program of “WhizKids Challenge” that aims at engaging children with daily lessons and challenges based on creativity and talent. It is a program that aims to keep them away from Television or Smartphones until the task is over and share their work with each other to create a virtual network of friends at an early age. When the children are engaged, parents are able to judiciously divide time between family and their work. There is a sense of positivity and happiness in the family. Most importantly, parents find a reason to bond with their child in the difficult time brought forward by the pandemic.

Ashwathy reports that one of the Wedu Rising Star of a previous cohort, Vanlalhruaii Famhawite also joined in by helping her connect with children from her state.
